Halloween is right around the corner and my family is excited! This time of the year is one of our favorites. Getting to decide what we will dress up as, but also putting together party ideas! My kids love helping with party ideas. Without them, I wouldn’t even know how to throw a kid-friendly Halloween party. Here are a few Halloween party ideas for kids that you don’t want to miss out on.

Shop at one place to keep your sanity
One rule to follow, when throwing a Halloween party for kids, is to shop at one place. You don’t want to run to several places to buy everything you need. We always shop at our local Walmart because it’s just easier to pick everything up in one spot. Plus, I don’t think any of us can forget how awesome Grocery Pickup is! Being able to shop online and then pick up your Walmart items without a hassle: major time and money saver right here.
Make your own Halloween decor
Another fun way to throw a Halloween party for your kids is to make your own Halloween decor. I always reuse Halloween decor from the previous year, but we also make fresh party decor every year. The kids LOVE this part of throwing a party. Here are a few things you can make with the kids, right at home.
- Decorating pumpkins is always an easy one!
- Mummy Mason Jars – Wrap mason jars with tender tape and add googly eyes.
- Spooky Terrarium! These are fun for kids and you can use items that you have around your house.
- Candy corn garland. For those of you who don’t quite love eating candy corn, it makes a great DIY Halloween decoration.
Create a few DIY Halloween games
Another part of throwing a Halloween party is having fun games on hand. Of course, running out to buy Halloween games isn’t always budget friendly. Making your own Halloween party games with the kids is a GREAT idea! I promise this is going to be easy. Check out some of our ideas.
- Donut eating race – Have a race to see who can eat the most donuts! Always a yummy and fun Halloween game.
- Pin the Boo on the Ghost – Make a huge ghost out of white balloons and then try and pin the “boo” on that ghost. The kids are going to have a ton of fun with this one.
- Mummy wrap – Separate the kids into teams. Have the kids work together and create a mummy out of one of their friends. No covering the face though! You can grab cheap toilet paper for this game.

Decide on what delicious food you will serve
We love getting creative with our food. My kids think food art is hilarious and ‘too cool’ so I earn mega Cool Mom points when we do things like this. Other than our traditional Mummy Dogs, Spider Cupcakes and Apple Cider this year we made new Halloween appetizers and the kids loved it.
