I love making these calming bottles with my kids. We use them for a variety of things; timers, decorations, just good ol toys. These St. Patrick’s Day Calming Bottle are simple to make and kiddos everywhere can easily customize them to their liking. Another favorite this year has been the Moon Sand.

You can make these out of regular water bottles as well if you don’t have a Voss bottle. I like to use what is handy at the time.

How to make St. Patrick’s Day Calming Bottle

St. Patrick's Day Calming Bottle for Kids (2)

Begin by removing the labels from the Voss water bottle. You can use rubbing alcohol to remove any sticky residue left behind.

Fill the bottle almost to the top with green colored hand soap. Just leave a few inches unfilled at the top of the bottle.

Put in your shamrock confetti, green sequins, green necklace beads or any other small green decorations you might wish to use in the bottle.

Add a little bit of green liquid dish soap to the bottle.

Close the lid and see if you are happy with how fast or slow the objects in the bottle are moving. If they need some help getting started, you can use a small popsicle stick or skewer to swirl them around. If you want the movement to go faster, add a bit more dish soap. If you want it to go slower, add some more hand soap.

Once you have gotten the desired movement in the bottle, fill it to the very top with hand soap.

Use a piece of packing tape to seal the bottle closed. You can use a Hot Glue Gun if you prefer, for a more secure hold.

I love this craft idea. I’m thinking of adding some of this to a clear soap dispenser to see if it will be inviting for the kids to make them want to wash their hands more.

That is such a pretty idea, it doesn’t actually look handmade and I’m sure it would work very well.

You can use either. I find that the Voss Water Bottles work amazingly well however.

Does the hand soap need to be foaming hand soap or the thicker kind?

Not sure why but the soap mixed in a way that made most of it cloudy. Hoping with time to dry the glue, maybe it settles.
