When all the kids are home for the summer, it can get a bit chaotic around here. Summertime is when the kids seem to fight the most and our days can be a bit crazy. From swim lessons to the “fun” days I have planned, sometimes you just need a few solutions to the summer chaos. Here are my solutions.
My Solution to Summer Chaos
Keep your expectations low
Your kids only get so many summers, it’s important to pick and choose our battles. I like to say that summertime is the perfect time for me to keep my expectations low. I can’t expect the kids to behave perfectly. I can’t expect them to always listen the first time. I keep this solution at the forefront of my mind because it’s important to remember.
Soak up the time
Summer might seem long, but really it’s just a short 8-12 week stretch of time that we’re with our kids a lot. Instead of looking at it as a bad thing, it’s time to really soak it up. Try to enjoy it as much as you can. I know there will still be frustrations and times when the family doesn’t get along. However, summer is the perfect time to make memories and have fun.
Keep it simple
I can’t tell you how many days I have over-complicated over the summer months. When you over complicate things, you create chaos, which isn’t fun for anyone. There have already been some hectic days this summer. Ones where I decided to relax and pull a Red Baron pizza out of the freezer. Red Baron pizza is an easy solution to any hectic or chaotic day. When I don’t feel like even thinking about what’s for dinner, this is my solution and it’s usually always a great one. Thanks to Red Baron pizza, I can say I never fly solo!
Find a way to relax
There is just something about summer and the heat that can make everyone a little wound up. It’s super important for me to find a way to relax. After the kids have gone to bed or even before they wake up, I try to sneak in a few moments to myself. This is truly one of the best solutions to summer chaos.
Are you dealing with summer chaos? What tips can you offer other parents this summer? I’d love to hear your tips.
