Your kids only get so many summers, it’s important to pick and choose our battles. I like to say that summertime is the perfect time for me to keep my expectations low. I can’t expect the kids to behave perfectly. I can’t expect them to always listen the first time. I keep this solution at the forefront of my mind because it’s important to remember.

Summer might seem long, but really it’s just a short 8-12 week stretch of time that we’re with our kids a lot. Instead of looking at it as a bad thing, it’s time to really soak it up.  Try to enjoy it as much as you can. I know there will still be frustrations and times when the family doesn’t get along. However, summer is the perfect time to make memories and have fun.

There is just something about summer and the heat that can make everyone a little wound up. It’s super important for me to find a way to relax. After the kids have gone to bed or even before they wake up, I try to sneak in a few moments to myself. This is truly one of the best solutions to summer chaos.

Are you dealing with summer chaos? What tips can you offer other parents this summer? I’d love to hear your tips.
