One thing I love doing for my kids is helping them to be creative. With these Patriotic Pinwheels Craft for kids, your kids can be creative and have fun at the same time. Patriotic Pinwheels are fun for the whole family to put together. Plus, with Memorial Day and the 4th of July just around the corner, these will be put to good use.
The kids will be out of school soon (if not already) and will need something to do, help them create these Patriotic Pinwheels. You can hand them out to teachers, neighbors, and use them in your own front yard. If you’ve never made something like this with the kids, you’re in for a fun treat. Patriotic Pinwheels are a craft that you’ll want to make over and over with the kids. There’s only one thing left to do and that’s having fun!

How to make Patriotic Pinwheels
Cut each piece of your paper to 8”x 8” in size.
Glue two pieces of different color/design papers together so it looks like one square.
Use the ruler to draw an “X” on the paper, making sure you go all the way to each corner.
Starting on each line from the corners, cut on them towards the center stopping about a half inch before the center of the “X”. It should look like you have four triangles connected at the center of the paper.
Take any corner and fold it to the center of the paper, put a dab of glue on it, and press and hold down until it stays glued. Do not crease the fold.
Now skip a corner and take the next corner and fold it to the center, put a dab of glue on it, and press and hold down until it stays glued. Repeat this with two more corners. Four corners will be folded towards the center, and the other four will be flat still.
Take a push pin and poke it through the front side of your pinwheel at the center point where you glued making sure it goes all the way to the back.
Take a pencil and poke that pin into the side of the eraser and stop just before it pokes through the other side.
The pinwheel is now attached so that the pencil is the stick you hold, or you push into the ground.

Mumming during the summer is a never-ending cycle of snacks and activities. As a boy mom I know that if I don’t keep them occupied, then a moment of silence means they are dismantling my house brick by brick. So thank you for another craft that I can do with my rambunctious boys!!

I remember making these as a kid. They’re so fun! I’m going to have to gather up the supplies and do these work my boys this summer on our camping adventures. 🙂

You make it look so easy. This is timely because I have my nephew’s birthday coming up in a few weeks so we’ll definitely be doing this!
