It’s my favorite time of the year – the sights and smells of the holidays! I always have this potpourri recipe simmering in my kitchen in the winter and everyone always loves it. It’s an all natural potpourri and so easy to make.

This stove top potpourri recipe will make your home smell so warm and inviting this winter and holiday season. It’s a cozy and fresh smell to enjoy throughout the Christmas season and all winter long.

I love me a good holiday candle! However they do suck the oxygen from the air and can have negative health benefits. That’s why I love this holiday simmering potpourri. It’s all natural and the water actually puts moisture back into the air. Most important the smell is so amazing!!

  • Cinnamon Sticks

  • Cranberries
  • Orange

Are just a few scent ideas that you can add to stove potpourri. Mix and match to find your favorite combination and recipe.

Holiday Potpourri Gift 

This stovetop potpourri only takes a few ingredients and is so easy to package up with a printable gift tag. Note – you will want to use dried fruit when making the potpourri as a gift. Just put everything in a small plastic bag with a pretty ribbon and add the instructions for use. 

Important Stovetop Potpourri Tips

You will want to be sure to check the simmering potpourri often to keep the water level up. If all of the water evaporates in your pan and it is not replaced, the potpourri will burn. For safety please use the back burner of your stove to simmer the potpourri.

  • orange

How to make this stovetop potpourri

Start by slicing the orange and apple into rounds.

Then place the sliced orange and apple to a medium pot or sauce pan.

Add in the cranberries, cinnamon sticks, and cloves.

Pour in enough water into the pot to just almost cover the ingredients.

Heat the potpourri over low heat on a back burner.

Simmer on low heat for up to 3 hours, continue to add more water as the water gets low.
