What you need
LOTS of candy in a variety of shapes and sizes
3 boxes: small, medium and large
Black Construction Paper
Scissors
Tape: packing, clear and double sided
Hot glue gun
Thick ribbon
How to make the Candy Tower
Use the packing tape to seal the boxes closed.
Start with the large cardboard box, the theater-style candy boxes work best for this layer. Candy boxes vary in size, so lay a few candy boxes alongside each other to make sure they fit the width of the cardboard box.
Next, place double stick tape on the back of the candy boxes & adhere to the cardboard box. If the boxes are not sticking using the double stick tape, you can use a hot glue gun. The hot glue won’t melt the chocolate if a small amount of hot glue is used.
Repeat with all 4 sides of the large cardboard box.
Repeat this taping / hot gluing process with the middle layer as well. Again, proceed with caution using the hot glue gun on chocolate bars. Try to apply the glue only down the center of the candy bar – typically this location has a few layers of plastic to prevent the chocolate from getting too hot and melting.
Use a little extra hot glue/tape on the edges of the candy bars to give it a clean look.
Repeat with the small cardboard box.
A square tissue box cut in half works well for this top layer.
For the very top of the candy tower, arrange 4 packs of gum or mints in a square/ rectangle pattern. Secure together using the clear tape.
All layers are now covered in candy, now its time to stack them. Use the black construction paper to cover the tops of each layer. Roughly measure, cut and tape/glue the construction paper in place.
After the top of the large, medium and small layer is covered, glue or tape each layer on top of the next.
Further, secure the candy bars by attaching some wide ribbon. Simply hot glue one edge of the ribbon to the cardboard box, wrap around the whole box and glue again to complete.
At the top, use a few more candy bars inside the gum/ mint box to give it a big finish!
The epic candy tower is now complete!
