Vicks VapoRub Hacks

What can you use Vicks VapoRub for?

Headaches

Did you know you can use it to help with a headache? All you need to do is to rub a small amount of Vicks into your temples and wait a few minutes for it to take effect. You will begin to feel the pressure being released. The menthol found in Vicks offers a cooling effect, therefore it relieves pressure.  Cool, huh? No pun intended.

Cats

Cats are known to use their paws to scratch on your favorite things. You wouldn’t want your cat to sharpen its claws on that expensive couch or table. It turns out that cats don’t like the smell of Vicks. Just rub a small amount of the ointment on those table legs and maybe just a tiny bit on the couch fabric.  This will keep them from damaging your nice things.

Papercuts

If you get a papercut, apply Vicks right away to prevent infection and speed up the healing process. No matter how small the wound is, if left untreated, there’s a chance for it to get infected.  What a simple way to ensure infection free healing.

Nails

Vicks is said to be able to heal toenail fungus. Over a period of 2 weeks, apply Vicks to the affected portion daily. The Vicks will slowly kill the fungus on your toenail during this time.

Make note though, that there is a possibility of the area turning black. If it does, then it means the Vicks is killing the bacteria. As your nail grows, the black part will eventually grow off.

Mosquitoes

Vicks can repel mosquitoes because of its scent.  Just dab it in a few places like on the back of your arms, on the inside of your wrists, on your ankles, and other exposed areas and the scent will repel them. If you happen to miss an area and you do get bitten by a mosquito, apply a small amount of Vicks to stop the itching.  So it’s great for both.

Feet

If your feet feel dry, use Vicks as a moisturizer. After applying Vicks to your feet, put socks on and leave it on overnight. When you wake up in the morning, wash the excess Vicks off your feet, dry them, and feel how soft they are.

Stretch Marks

Stretch marks can be very hard to deal with. Most people think that it’s impossible to remove stretch marks without surgery. But you can apply Vicks to the area where your stretch marks are. Do this everyday for 2 to 3 weeks. The stretch marks should begin fading. Continue doing this until the stretch marks have completely disappeared.

These 7 Vicks VapoRub Hacks are so handy to keep in mind.  For years we’ve only been using it for one thing when it had so many other uses.  Have you used it for other things?
