Back to school season is upon us! For most of us, our first response is to panic. There is so much to do in such a short period of time. While getting ready for back to school, it’s easy to let things go! The house can easily fall apart and the kids can get off schedule. Many people wonder how I keep my sanity around here, with having a large family. Here are a few tips to stay on schedule during the back to school rush.
5 Tips to Stay on Schedule During the Back to School Rush
Write the family’s schedule down
It’s easy to think you’re doing yourself a favor by NOT writing important information down. Your family’s schedule is super important! Writing your family’s schedule down, for everyone to see, is one of the best things you can do when you’re busy. That way, you have a visual reminder and you know the family is doing what they’re supposed to be doing. I like to write it down and tape it to the wall. The best tape for this is Scotch® Super Hold Tape. Its the only tape I can get to stay in place which makes my life easier.
Start planning now
One way to stay on schedule, during the back to school rush, is start planning now. Last minute “planning” never works and usually makes you feel worse than when you began. Right now, in July, is a great way to plan for back to school without stressing out. Doing things slowly and at your own leisure is way better than running around like a chicken with its head cut off.
Have dinner at the same time every day
Having kids means your schedule can be thrown out the window at any time. I keep our lives kind of non-chaotic, by having dinner at the same time every day. Even if nothing else goes my way, at least I know we’ll have dinner on time. Dinner is a great time for us to get together and talk about our day. Plus, it gives everyone a sense of calm, even during the chaos of back to school season. This is another great calendar to have taped up on the wall. We like to make a list of recipes and pull one down when we use it.

Start a bedtime routine
Summer is fun because there isn’t a whole lot of routine all the time. However, before you know it, the school will be starting. With this in mind, now is a great time to start a bedtime routine. The kids need plenty of sleep, especially since they will have to start getting up earlier. A bedtime routine is a great way to stay on schedule during the back to school rush.
Do all of your back to school shopping at Walmart
When it comes to back to school shopping, I pick one place and go for it! Back to school shopping, in this house, happens at Walmart. This is where I pick up important back to school items like backpacks, lunch boxes, crayons, markers, Scotch, and more! School is back, roll with it.
