The Rainbow Movement (and more good news)

Mar 24, 2020 · Leave a Comment

During tragedy or scary times I always think of this quote “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” In light of our current events it might be hard to figure out how you can help or simply just stay positive. Read on to learn about the rainbow movement and more good news and things that you can do to help promote positivity.

Ways For Communities To Come Together

I have been seeing good news everywhere from stores helping the elderly and immunocompromised by opening early to free food options for kids. I think we all want to spread positivity and hope during times like this.

Here are a few fun ideas for communities to come together while staying home and social distancing:

Place a rainbow in your window! Have kids work together making a big rainbow or have everyone in the family make a rainbow and put in your windows. This is super fun for families as they walk or drive by, making it a scavenger hunt. Find three different free rainbow coloring pages at the end of this post to print now and put in your window.

Doing our best to make people smile. Inspired by @heythereheeth to put some joy out front! Hoping the neighbors will feel a little sunbeam of hope and joy and Jesus when they walk by.

Light up your house with Christmas decor! Put your Christmas tree back up or put lights up outside of your house. Christmas is truly the most magical and best time of year to be at home. The Christmas lights and decor will make your home cozy and inviting.

Make cards – handwritten notes and cards always brighten someone’s day. Send these cards to hospital workers or nursing homes.

Have a drive by parade – this is a fun idea for teachers or even for a friends birthday. Drive by a friends house with decorated cars and posters honking as you drive by.
